Most of the social media giants like Google, Facebook, WhatsApp have shared the desired details by the IT ministry except Twitter. The new IT rules came into effect from the 26th of May. Except for Twitter, the other giants mentioned here are all in line with the new rules and have submitted all the documents demanded by the IT ministry. PTI reported that Twitter is still not following the norms published by Government.
The significant social media giants including Google, Facebook, WhatsApp, Koo, Sharechat, Telegram, and LinkedIn have shared details of a chief compliance officer, nodal contact person, and grievance officer with the ministry, as per the new IT norms that came into effect earlier this week.
IT Ministry said that Twitter did not send the details of the Chief compliance officer but has shared the details of a lawyer working in a law firm as a nodal contact and grievance officer.
On Thursday, Twitter sent out some war of words trying to defame India, comments on Delhi police, and dictating terms to the largest democracy. The government called it “totally baseless, false”.
