KCR the chief minister of Telangana said in his official press meet that his state is not going for partial or complete lockdown keeping in mind the financial crisis the state would go into if lockdown is imposed. Furthermore he added the lockdown can lead to panic situation as there are 250,000 – 300,000 workers from the neighboring states here and he doesn’t want to bother than anymore with lockdowns and spoil their daily livelihood. The areas with more cases are treated as micro containment zones and necessary action will be taken as per needs.
In the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he requested for more medical aid. Presently, the state has 440 MT of oxygen per day and it should be increased to 500 MT per day and has requested the Prime Minister to procure 200,000-250,000 doses of vaccine per day.
On the other hand Karnataka goes for 2 week lockdown as the surge of cases is high, the government believes lockdown is only option for them to stop the spread of virus and bring back situation to normalcy. BS Yediyurappa and his government said that the lockdown will start from 10th May 6.00 AM and will end on May 24th 6.00 AM. The primary services and essential supplies will run as usual. Pubs, Bars, Theatres, Restaurants and other industries have to put their work on hold. Metro Rail won’t operate. Schools, Colleges remains shut and online classes can continue. The government has taken this extreme step as Karnataka reported 50,000 cases in last 24 hours with 592 deaths recorded on a single day.
The State capital Bangalore is on high alert as the figures suggest there is 40% chance of getting infected with the virus for its citizens residing there. The short of Oxygen supply and demand for medical oxygen is increasing thus the government requested for more medical aid.
