The curious case of David Warner

Many call him Mr Sunriser, fans call him David Bhai he was the one who carried the team’s burden on his shoulders and gave many memorable moments for SRH fans. The list of contributions that Warner has done for Sunrisers Hyderabad team are end less. The middle order batting issue is always a concern for SRH since its installation, many came and many went but the problem looked like a endless puzzle, but he with his impeccable batting skills had subsided the issue many times such was the impact of Warner in the side.

He was the prime reason that they won their maiden IPL title in 2016, he was the 2nd leading run scorer next to Kohli during that season, a three time orange cap holder with an average of 42.22 with a strike rate of 151.42 surely a legend of this game. He can be termed as best foreign batsman in IPL seeing his stats.

His career has taken a murky turn after the infamous sand paper ball tampering issue where he was banned for an year, lost his vice captaincy for team Australia and stopped from participating any other league all across the globe. This led to new developments in SRH as Kane Willamson was handed over the captaincy during his absence of play. Again in 2020 edition of IPL he regained his captaincy and has good outing with the bat as SRH has made into the playoff’s and lost the 2nd qualifier match against DC (Delhi Capitals).

This year of IPL is the worst of all for David Warner as he not only struggled with the bat but also messed up few matches with his decision making skills. the super over against DC was one match where he went to bat ahead of inform Jonny Bairstow, the one run short episode in that very match made his time even worst, his slow paced innings against CSK, his interview about Manish Pandey exclusion in the team. We really don’t know exact reason but SRH has taken a huge decision to strip him out of his captaincy and remove him from the playing XI.

His future with SRH team looks bleak many predict that this is his last season and many say he has played the last match that was with CSK. But whatever happens none can come close to what he have achieved with SRH in the mere future.

Good luck David Bhai…
